Sustainable Tourism & “Leave No Trace” Policy for Guests and Participants

Introduction

Furut  is committed to promoting sustainable tourism practices to minimize our environmental impact and preserve natural and cultural resources for future generations. This policy outlines our expectations for guests and participants to adhere to the principles of sustainable tourism and the “Leave No Trace” (LNT) philosophy during their stay or participation in our activities.

The goal is to ensure that all visitors leave the environment as they found it, reducing waste, conserving resources, and respecting local ecosystems, cultures, and communities.

Scope

This policy applies to all guests, participants, and staff involved in tours, accommodations, events, or any activities organized by Furut and or Hosts .

Key Principles of Sustainable Tourism and “Leave No Trace”

Plan Ahead and Prepare

  • Research: All guests are encouraged to research their destinations, activities, and any cultural or environmental considerations. This helps ensure that their visit is respectful to local communities and ecosystems.
  • Understand Local Regulations: Comply with any specific local rules and regulations related to conservation areas, protected wildlife, or cultural heritage sites.
  • Avoid Overcrowding: Where possible, avoid visiting heavily trafficked sites or times. Support alternative locations and less-visited areas to reduce pressure on sensitive environments.

Travel and Transportation

  • Minimize Carbon Footprint: Opt for sustainable transportation options such as public transit, biking, walking, or carpooling. When traveling long distances, choose eco-friendly or low-emission transport options.
  • Offset Emissions: We encourage all guests to offset their carbon emissions through recognized carbon offset programs if traveling long distances.
  • Reduce Vehicle Impact: When using vehicles, ensure they are parked in designated areas to avoid damage to natural landscapes and ecosystems.

Respect Wildlife and Habitats

  • Do Not Disturb Wildlife: Observe animals from a safe distance and avoid feeding or approaching them. Interactions with wildlife should be non-intrusive and respectful.
  • Stay on Trails: Stick to established trails and paths to prevent soil erosion, protect plant life, and minimize habitat disturbance.?
  • Do Not Collect: Refrain from collecting plants, rocks, or other natural resources as souvenirs.

Leave No Trace

  • Pack In, Pack Out: Guests must take all trash, recyclables, and waste with them. This includes food packaging, cigarette butts, and any other materials that do not naturally decompose.
  • Minimize Waste: Reduce the use of single-use plastics and dispose of waste in designated bins. Reuse containers and practice water conservation when possible.
  • Respect Nature: Do not disturb or damage plants, animals, or other natural elements. Leave the environment as you found it for others to enjoy.

Respect Local Cultures and Communities

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Learn about and respect local customs, traditions, and practices. Engage with local communities in a respectful and positive manner.
  • Support Local Economies: Whenever possible, support local businesses and artisans. Choose accommodations, activities, and products that promote sustainable development within the community.
  • Respect Sacred Sites: Do not trespass or engage in inappropriate behavior at culturally or spiritually significant locations.

Sustainable Consumption

  • Minimize Resource Use: Be mindful of your consumption of water, electricity, and other resources. Turn off lights, AC, and appliances when not in use.
  • Eat Locally and Sustainably: Choose local, organic, and sustainably sourced food options. Avoid excessive food waste by ordering only what you can consume.

Environmental Education and Advocacy

  • Raise Awareness: Engage in sustainable tourism practices through education. Share your experiences and knowledge with others to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable tourism.
  • Promote Sustainability: Encourage fellow travelers, peers, and staff to follow the sustainable practices outlined in this policy.
